WTF?!

My fellow Catholic  friends will appreciate this insanity:  My mom received a rosary in the mail, and guess what:  there's a 4th decade now.

There is now the Luminous Mysteries.

After how many years of there only being 3 decades to the rosary, the Pope's added a 4th.

I swear that Pope Benedict has lost his damn mind.

Since I have nobody to talk to about Catholic stuff, I'm now spamming your journal.

I don't think Benedict is as lovable as John Paul. He seems to be more of a dry academic whereas John Paul had a sort of poet's soul. But he is moving on some things (slowly like all things relating to the Vatican). He's weeding out corruption, it seems and not letting things slide. I don't like him quite as much as JP, but I respect him, if that makes sense.

John Paul was a Saint, a charismatic Bishop of God loved and respected by everyone, even by his enemies.

Nevertheless, we´ve got to remember that the "intellectual" behind him was Ratzinger and that it was the German cardinal who wrote most, if not all, of Pope John Paul´s documents and encyclics.

True. And Benedict is really cracking down on Medjugorje in ways he only started when he was overseeing the CDoF. He's like a smart cop. I don't feel as inclined to give him a cuddle, but he's cool by me.

I know what you mean about respecting Benedict but not liking him as much as Pope John Paul II. It just seems like JP has a better public persona.

I remember JP passed right after my grandfather did and I felt like I was losing him all over again (he was a deeply religious man and we lived together in his last years). I soaked up the news and every lovely thing anyone had to say about him, nodding and crying. I loved that man.
