Sometimes the Underdog bites BACK!!
Yet another insane night of Olympic awesomeness! :)
I am incredibly proud of our two American gymnasts going first and second in the All Around competition. Simone Biles was as fabulous as I knew she would be and I have to admit that when Aly Raisman finished her floor routine and burst into tears, I cried right along with her. I’m also glad that Aliya Mustafina got her bronze but I worry about all of the injuries she’s suffered. She’s only 21 years old, she doesn’t want to be crippled at 30 years of age.
I ‘m also deeply proud of Ryan Murphy and his winning both backstroke gold medals—he and his Irish family crack me up :)

Was it just me, or did the UK girls look heavy on their feet? I'm all for healthy eating and body image, especially for gymnasts where you hear some horror stories about what they eat (and don't eat) to stay on the smaller side; but the GB girls just did not look graceful, especially on the floor. Ellie Downie landing on her head during a tumble didn't help matters, either!
Thoroughly please for our boy Max Whitlock in the individual, he was fantastic. :-)

The Americans looked sturdy and athletic, as gymnasts should. The British girls appeared to lack form and, apart from Claudia Fragipani, had no muscle definition. They did okay, but they were clearly not on the same level as their American cousins. :-)
