This is a 430 word dystopian future Smallville/Supergirl crossover for the Numbers Challenge at [livejournal.com profile] 1_million_words  It is inspired by the insanity of some of the US media salivating all over Kim Yo Jung at the South Korean Olympics.  And yes, the last two lines are from Game of Thrones :):)

I'm dying over here--my Olympic TV boyfriend, Bob Costas, is stepping down as the host for NBC's Olympic coverage.  WTF??!!   No one else can be as witty, effortlessly charming and as knowledgeable about sports.  DAMN!!
kitmerlot_1213: (The Flash/Supergirl)
My TV Olympic boyfriend continues to show why he's the coolest around.  Apparently Costas is the master of table tennis, easily beating an athlete years younger--well at least this happens while he has a stunt double and the actual athlete isn't trying that hard :):)  He really has a good sense of humor :):)

Now onto damn interesting TV news about Supergirl: Spoilers for Supergirl WOO HOO!! )
kitmerlot_1213: (BBC/BAMF John Watson)
My friends, my Olympic insanity knows no bounds!  How about that balance beam event final?

Squeeing forth with :):) )

While I'm sorry that Gabby Douglas' second Olympic experience was not as positive at the first, I'd like to try and focus on the most awesome moments thus far:

Squeeing :):) )
kitmerlot_1213: (Star Trek Trio)
Okay, first I’m going to get the bad stuff out of the way:  my Weekend Challenge at [livejournal.com profile] 1_million_words went belly up with only one person managing to create a lovely drabble.  I guess my Weird Pennsylvania challenge was an epic fail.  DAMN!!!   ETA:  I know have two people who completed ficlets--maybe not so much a fail after all?!  :)

But now onto the good:  My squeeing about Star Trek and the Olympics--WHAT?! :) )

but I’m okay with the top three finishers at the ladies event—the only problem I have has to do with Adelina’s being so over-scored.  I mean, the judges should make an attempt to make it less obvious.  But then again, Yuna Kim was over-marked in Vancouver, so you live by the sword, you die by the sword.  I also think Yuna was following the Michelle Kwan way off thinking, in that “All I have to do is stay vertical and I’ll win gold”, forgetting that there are younger skaters behind her, doing technically more difficult programs.

I also have to wonder why Tara and Johnny hate Ashley Wagner as much as they do.  Scotty and Bezic were infinitely fairer to her and that just freaks me out.  I get that the USFSA wants Gracie Gold to be their new face, to be their Number# 1 skater, but they don’t have to be quite so awful to Ashley.

I am proud of how well our Americans did and I'm glad that Mao was able to finish up with such a lovely free skate.

I know I’m a bit late in posting this but I had to deal with shoveling after our 13th snow storm—luckily the snow was powdery.  Now onto the ice dancing competition:

I am so proud of Meryl Davis and Charlie White for not just winning the US's first ice dancing gold medal and making Olympic ice dancing history, but for doing so in such a gorgeous and classy manner.  There have been quite a few uber-Virtue/Moir fans who have been saying unkind things about our couple—accusing the US judge and the Russian judge of being in collusion and making nasty comments about Meryl’s appearance--but they have managed to stay above the fray.  They are clutch performers who performed two flawless routines and they deserve all of the accolades in the world.

Actually, congrats to all of the teams for putting down such lovely and memorable programs.  Here’s hoping the ladies competition is as fabulously competitive and joyful.

Okay, I need to freak out about the ice dancing short dance--spoilers ahoy:

My squeeing behind the cut :) )

Holy crap, major crap is happening at the Men's Short programs at the Olympics:

Spoilers behind the cut... )

but I'm still doing it.  We are smack dab in the middle of a Nor-easter and I decided to take the day off of work.  I really had no choice--my street hasn't been plowed yet and the parts of the walkway I shoveled have since gotten recovered in snow.  In short, I'm doing what the weather people advised and I'm staying home.  At least, now I can watch the Men's short program's live :):)

And I know I joke about the Russian Federation freaking out all over their skaters, but you really can see the pressure these poor kids are under.  The two Russian couples that won gold and silver looked like they were about to have a meltdown when it was announced that they medaled.  God love them :):)

February continues to kick our collective butts.  We will be getting our eleventh winter storm this Thursday and can I tell you that I’m sick to death of shoveling snow!  And the weather people are talking about freezing rain and that means there might be power outages again--I hope to God that doesn’t happen.       Now onto the important stuff:  TV shows and the Olympics :):)

WOO HOO! )

Yes, that's right, I must talk about my TV boyfriend, Bob Costas.  The poor man has some sort of eye injury but it's all good because he looks adorable with his glasses:)
That is all :)
kitmerlot_1213: (Alex's phone)

That's right cats and kittens, I'm covering for my coworker with the horrible and crappy job. But as I keep telling myself, it’s only for five days and now it's one day down, four more to go.

And now my post-Olympic thoughts: )
kitmerlot_1213: (H50 Fearsome Foursome)

My favorite Olympic moments—thus far :)

My gushing behind the cut... )
kitmerlot_1213: (Alex/smiling)

How much do I love it when unexpected countries win medals?

Just in case anyone missed it... )

I am thrilled at the North American dominance in Ice Dancing--WOO HOO!!

I preferred Davis/White's Phantom of the Opera Free Dance, but if anyone was going to beat them for the gold, I'm thrilled it was the Canadians Virtue and Moir.

Belbin and Agosto are not my favorites by any stretch of the imagination, but they were robbed of the bronze.  And all in the name of placating the Russians,

And it's sickening what poor sports Scali ( the Italian ice dancer) and Shalin (the Russian ice dancer) are-- North Americans can actually ice dance and they beat you fair and square.  DEAL WITH IT!!   :):)
