I think Scott Caan did the best he could with the storylines he was handed this season.
SC handled Danny’s angst about Matt's murder and his subsequently avenging his brother’s death quite well. I especially liked the phone call to Grace from the Colombian jail—SC hit all of the right notes with his being obviously worried over the scary situation he was in and then trying to mask that fear while talking to his daughter--that was very well done.
But now we have Rachel’s reveal about Charlie’s true paternity and I don’t think there is anyway Rachel can come back from this. Yes, they’ve had a complicated relationship where they’ve hurt each other but I always thought that they deeply loved each other, but now I don't think Rachel actually loves anyone besides her kids and even that I question. She deliberately kept a son from his dad--that's cold blooded.
I honestly do not think Danny should forgive Rachel for this.
And SC's reaction to finding out that Charlie is his son and that he was denied his rightful place in his own son’s life for three years was also completely spot on. Danny was angry that Rachel had lied to him but you could also see his pain and regret that he’d missed so much of Charlie’s life because of Rachel’s lies.
Danny's pain and anger are all wonderfully played by SC but for me, the Danny/Rachel relationship is officially dead. There is no way he could ever trust her again because she has proven to be a completely selfish and just an all-around horrible human being. She’s already lost Danny’s respect and I hope she loses Grave’s and I also hope Stan divorces her sorry ass.
