I saw the movie Love and Friendship and it is insanely awesome.  The film is based on Austen's short story Lady Susan and it is one of the most brilliant and cleverly made movies of this year and I give major kudos to Kate Beckinsale as Susan and Tom Bennett as James Martin--TB in particular made me laugh out loud--the man needs to win all the awards in the world.  Go and see it :):)

I just read that Harper Lee has died at 89 years old.  I adored To Kill A Mockingbird--Scout and Jem had an awesome sibling relationship and Atticus Finch was one of the best fictional dads EVER--and her characterization of the deep South in the 1930's was haunting and deeply moving.  RIP, Ms. Lee.

Feb. 13th's question is from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] purple_moon123 Since I know you like the Sherlock's. Have you seen Frankenstein which Cumberbatch and Miller. If so which did you like best and which role? If not who do think would do better in each role??

My Sherlockian answer this way :):) )

This is from the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] phillydragonldy:   If you were going to recast Pride and Prejudice with Smallville characters, who would play who?

This was really fun—I’m going to go with the obvious:

Pride and Prejudice redone :) )

Has anyone else seen this?  Holy crap but I can not get past just how horribly unattractive the actors are who are playing Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy amd I know that's shallow but it's disconcerting to see the pretty and sparkingly Elizabeth played by such an older and drab woman.  And the characaterization seems wrong--since when does Elizabeth call her husband "Darcy?"

I saw this on Tumblir, so I’m bringing it here--a Book Meme! List ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you, and the books do not have to be in any certain order.    ETA:  If you have any questions about my book choices, ask away!  :)

Here is my list :):) )

Now who wants to play?  :):)

So here in the Northeast, we are preparing for our 14th snowstorm this season, and I'm kind of done.  I don't think I can actually take any more shoveling, so I'm going to post five things I'm excited about and/ or looking forward to:

And away we go :):) )

It's time for one of my favorite things--a post of absolute randomness:

ENJOY! :) )

First, thanks for everyone who left such lovely compliments on my meme yesterday--I shall save it in my memories and reread it when I need a morale boost.

And second, I love doing these random post of randomness where I vent about life, my own problems or my favorite TV shows.  Well guess what?  This one's going to be a veritable bouillabaisse of everything I'm annoyed at right now:

And away we go... )

I just finished the latest Sookie book Dead Reckoning and I enjoyed the crap out of it

I've had some strange times these last couple of weeks.

Back from my Saturday in NYC and it was a freakin' madhouse but the play was excellent.

I have just finished The Matter at Mansfield by Carrie Bebres, and it was quite clever.

I just finished this pretty cool book called The Intrigue at Highbury, and if you think the title sounds kind of Jane Austen-esque, you would be correct.

My mom and I took the train into Center City today and we saw the Noel Coward play, Fallen Angels, at the Walnut Street Theater.  The man wrote that play in 1927 and judging from how hard we were all laughing, it was still just as damn funny in 2010.

Well, it is January and the weather outside is so freakin' balmy I can't stand it.  I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and normally, the temp is in the 30s or 40s.  This week it is going to be in the 60s.

I am reminded of a quote from one of my favorite Shakespeare plays Much Ado About Nothing:

Leonato:  You will never run mad, niece.
Beatrice:  No, not till a hot January.
Act I, sc1

So I guess that means Beatrice will be able to finally run mad and fall madly in love with Benedick. :):)
