So, Spring will be arriving in about five days and here on the East Coast we'll be getting our fourth Nor'easter-- of this month!  What is up with March??!!  This snow/rain/bomb cyclone needs to stop.

I hope everyone has a Happy St. Patrick's Day-drink a green beer if you dare :):)

I'm dying over here--my Olympic TV boyfriend, Bob Costas, is stepping down as the host for NBC's Olympic coverage.  WTF??!!   No one else can be as witty, effortlessly charming and as knowledgeable about sports.  DAMN!!
kitmerlot_1213: (Alex's phone)
So it’s January 4th of 2017 and I decided that I need to vent.  So brace yourselves for a completely random bit of complaining and belly-aching.

Belly-aching commence :) )

kitmerlot_1213: (BBC Sherlock/status)
So, I have to cover the hateful and stupid job that I abhor beyond measure, today and tomorrow.  I am happy to say that it is now 1 day done, 1 more to go.  Wish me luck--I'm going to need it. :):)

And it's only the first day of the Democratic Convention and I'm already sick of the over the top news coverage and the "Philadelphia's so awesome" crap the media is trying to spew.  I guess the people in Cleveland had to endure all of that hype last week at the Republican Convention--too funny :)
kitmerlot_1213: (Elementary/blue Joanlock)
Okay, the bright boys at CBS decide to move Elementary to Sunday night at 10pm.  Yes, that annoys the crap out of me because that means if a game/sporting event is running long, my dvr won't be able to record the whole program.  And that means I'll have to watch it On Demand but you can't always fast forward through commercials, so you have to just sit there waiting for the show to resume.  UUUGGGHHHHH!!!
kitmerlot_1213: (The Flash/Barry Allen)
So much to talk about regarding my favorite TV shows but I would like to take a minute to talk about how impressed I am by France’s reactions to the Parisian terror attacks.  I am proud of them for rallying so quickly and acting so decisively against the bad guys.  Good for them and Viva la France!

My squeeing over Hamlet and ice skating--What? :) )

My squeeing over my super-awesome TV shows: Supergirl, Blindspot, The Flash, The Blacklist and Elementary )

SNOW!

So, it's not bad enough that we are in the middle of a snow storm--our area is supposed to get 6 to 8 inches of snow--I have just found out that I have to cover the horrible job this afternoon.  DAMN!!
kitmerlot_1213: (Alex/smiling)
I adored Peter Pan.  I though Allison Williams did an excellent job as Peter—unlike a certain country music star, Allison can actually sing and act which is a must for a musical theater production.

For the most part the Darling family were wonderful—the parents were pitch perfect as were the young boys playing John and Michael but the actress playing Wendy was trying too damn hard to be earnest.  Christopher Borle in the dual role of Mr. Darling and the pirate Smee was particularly a revelation.  He stole every scene he was in and did you see the muscles on that man’s arms?  WOO HOO!!

The dance sequences involving The Lost Boys, pirates and Tiger Lily's tribe were excellent and definitely Broadway caliber.

I’m worried about Christopher Walken because he looked quite ill.  He was strangely pale and he seemed almost lethargic in his scenes.

Overall, it was a lovely presentation.

Now onto the bad: )
kitmerlot_1213: (Pink Cameo)
Has anyone else seen this?  Holy crap but I can not get past just how horribly unattractive the actors are who are playing Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy amd I know that's shallow but it's disconcerting to see the pretty and sparkingly Elizabeth played by such an older and drab woman.  And the characaterization seems wrong--since when does Elizabeth call her husband "Darcy?"

First, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Natahn Cirillo and I hope my Canadian neighbors stand strong against this new wave of terrorism.

And second, I have now completed two days of the dreaded 11 day stupid job coverage--I swear the drama is going to kick my ass :):)

I wonder?

I wonder if the press has finally figured out that nobody cared when Angie and Brad were married and that even less people care that George Clooney got married. :):)

So, last night was the second to last meeting of the scary and backwards women's bible study group I've been attending, and I have never felt more alienated which really ticks me off.Freaking out behind the cut )

Well, I made the mistake of talking about one of my many viewpoints that differs with church teachings at my parish bible study group Tell off behind cut )
kitmerlot_1213: (H50 McDanno/nerves)
Well, the season finales have been hit or miss this TV season and now my community theater is letting me down.

Ranting behind the cut :) )
kitmerlot_1213: (Elementary/Moriarty)
I love this show and I must talk about it :):)

Hannibal squeeing behind the cut :) )

But what the hell is up with NBC and their need to remake already excellent movies with crappy remakes? Let me count the ways Rosemary's Baby will be horrendous:

Ranting behind the cut to spare you all :) )

I just read this article:  http://www.thewire.com/entertainment/2014/03/end-of-an-internet-era-television-without-pity-gets-shuttered/359733/

and I am stunned.  TWOP is where I went to snark on TV and to laugh about the absurdity of certain shows--Smallville--or to squee about the excellence of others--Sherlock and Elementary.  What a sad commentary on our society that a site this awesome doesn't have a place on the Internet.

I just came from this stupid stress relieving class at my church that has actually given me more stress.  I thought it was only going to be an hour and it was almost two—YIKES!

I realize that I am not a person who enjoys philosophizing on life or talking about feeling your breath or any of that other stuff.  I don’t get anything out of it and it winds up just annoying the crap out of me.

And then as we’re leaving, I hold the door for the person behind me, and the chick just starts breezing through without holding the door.  I’m like, “Bitch, I’m not holding the door for you.  FRIGGIN’ GRAB IT!” so I let go of the door and it started to slam on the person behind her.  The she realizes what she’s supposed to do, she says, “Oh sorry about that!”  Seriously, hold the door for the next person—it’s not that difficult.

and getting low on heating oil.  We are down to about a quarter of a tank and while we won't use that all in one day, we definitely have to call the oil company on Monday for a fill-up.  And on Monday we are supposed to have temps in the 30's but Tuesday and Wednesday are supposed to be back in the teens and single digits.  Now is not the time to get low on heating fuel.

I hope everyone who is suffering through this horrible cold weather is doing alright.
kitmerlot_1213: (Veronica Mars/plotting)
And here we are again with horrible arctic temperatures:  it is currently 14 degrees F and I just had to shovel about eight inches of snow.  Now the snow was powdery, so it wasn't too heavy but the cold wind from the polar vortex which is now evading the East Coast is making it horrendous to be outside.

I can't wait for Spring.
