So I watched the Carrie Underwood/Sound of Music special...

And while she has a beautiful singing voice, Carrie was completely miscast to play Maria.  I know that she tried super-hard, but when she's standing next to Stephen Moyer, Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti, Christian Borle, not to mention the kids playing the Von Trapp children, Carrie Underwood's utter lack of acting ability was apparent, especially around trained musical theater actors who have won Tony awards on Broadway.

And it really bothers me that Carrie's response to her detractors is that "mean people need Jesus in their lives".  I think I have Jesus in my life and it still doesn't take away the fact that you need to be able to both act and sing to be successfully cast in a musical.
