The countdown to my Tuscany vacation has begun! I am starting to get things organized but of course I’m still freaking out that I’m going to forget something.
Now onto even more frivolous things: the theater and TV:
I saw a play version of the Jane Austen novel Emma and it was fabulous—it definitely kept the flavor of the novel with Emma as the well-meaning but entirely inept matchmaker. The theater itself was also rather cool--it was a converted church, so the stage was right in the middle, and there were three sets of seats surrounding it. And in the back of the program was an advertisement for the play version of Pride and Prejudice—guess what I’ll be seeing next? :)
I’m truly enjoying Elementary and I especially like that Joan and Sherlock’s friendship is even stronger than what we saw in S1. He’s still teaching her the fine art of detective work and I especially liked how proud he was when he realized that she’s become as good a pickpocket as he is. I also like that they are looking out for each other in regards to their personal lives. How beautiful was Joan’s “I shouldn’t be the only person who knows you.” But I wonder what Joan would think if she knew that Jamie Moriarty had written Sherlock from prison?
Sleepy Hollow is still awesome and I like to think that Abbie and Ichabod’s awesome platonic relationship was inspired by New York’s Homes and Watson.
I wish H50 would back off from the triangle of doom regarding Steve and Catherine. Honestly, Catherine isn’t that interesting and she shouldn’t be put front and center like she’s the star of the show when Danny and Chin seemed to be floundering for a storyline. The writers need to make sure that Scott Caan’s Danny Williams and DDK’s Chin Ho Kelly are taken care of before Catherine gets her own plot.
