Random Post: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Ah yes, we are in the beautiful time of year where it's autumn but we still have warm temperatures--I love it!

A lot has been going on, so I am going to start with the good stuff:

My Great Britain trip is two and half weeks away and I am beyond excited.  The trip is jam packed with excursions and side trips that I know I'll be run off my feet which is kind of awesome :)

I watched the Lincoln Center's presentation of Sweeney Todd:  The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and it was extremely well done and I was impressed my Emma Thompson's Mrs. Lovett--I knew she was a wonderful actress and writer but I had no idea that she could sing.  The man who played Sweeney, Bryn Terfel was wonderful as well and rather terrifying which if you've ever seen the musical is a compliment :)

I will be hanging out with the wonderful newbatgirl this afternoon--we are going to a vegetarian restaurant-- so we will be chit-chatting and eating which is always fun :)

Now onto the bad and ugly:

Apparently, I will have to help cover the stupid and hellish job for eleven days and the covering starts the day after I come back from my vacation.  Here's some quick background--the person whose job I'll be covering has to get elective surgery and he just happens to schedule it after I'm back from vacation?  He couldn't have had his procedure done in September before I go away?  Or maybe scheduled it at the beginning of November to give me the time to catch up on my own job after being away for seven work days?   Now I'll have this horrible job hanging over me and casting a pall on my much deserved time off and I'm kind of angry about it.

Okay, the venting is done--for now :)

Yay for going to Great Britain! The jealousy I would normally feel is muted by the fact that I'm super excited for you! ;-) And on that note, just remind yourself to NOT think about work while you're on vacation.

When you're driving through a beautiful countryside, or sitting next to a crackling pub fire, or having afternoon tea, remind yourself that everything around you says "VACATION", and enjoy yourself. Ha- just like "What About Bob":

You're on a vacation from your problems! lol But just don't worry about it. Work will take care of itself when you get back, so be nice to yourself and have FUN while you're on your trip. You deserve it!

I totally forgot that Sweeney Todd concert was airing! I'm going to see if anyone's uploaded it. I love, love, love me some Sondheim.

I'm so jealous you're going to the UK. I hope you get to meet Babydee while you're there!

Sucks you're going to be coming home to such a mess at work, though. All the more reason to spoil yourself rotten on the trip. :)
