I haven’t done one of these is awhile—a Random Post of Randomness—Summer Addition :):)

1.  I am currently in the middle of summer play series at the Bucks County Playhouse and thus far we’ve seen Steel Magnolias and The Buddy Holly Story.  Both plays were exceedingly well done and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.

2.  I truly love the PBS show Father Brown—although I can’t say the same for the original short stories—the mysteries are well done and despite the main character being a priest, religion is not the center piece of the show.

3.  The three episode PBS mini-series for Endeavour has finished and I can’t say enough good things about Roger Allam’s Inspector Fred Thursday.  The man is intelligent, has street smarts and is a great detective.  He also sees the potential in Morse and encourages him to keep improving himself within the department.

4.  The five year jump on Pretty Little Liars has been horrendous because the show ruined the awesomeness of Hanna/Caleb’s romance and the great Spencer/Hanna friendship.  The Spencer/Caleb “romance” is forced and ridiculous especially when they go on about their magical night in Madrid.  Caleb is officially ruined but Spencer can still be redeemed.  Hanna’s already improved—she escaped from her kidnapper and has put her angst aside to help her friends.  She may still love Caleb, but she loved Spencer more and wants her happiness.

5.  I truly hope Marisa Tomei is replaced as Aunt May in the new Spiderman movie.  I saw Captain America Civil War and she was totally inappropriate in her scenes with Tony Stark and Peter Parker—she was playing the scene as though she was waiting for her boyfriend to come home instead of her nephew.  GROSS!

Marisa Tomei is in Civil War? Huh. Did not know that. (I see Marvel movies when they come out on DVD and not before so it'll be September before I see this one). Maybe she was thrown off by the sight of RDJ - in her head she was thinking 'Damon Bradley!' ;)

It was truly a strange scene especially Tomei's giggling and smiling widely at her nephew--who knows what she was thinking? :)

Yeah, Chris and I aren't happy with Spaleb either.
That being said, I do love Hanna's fiancé (which probably means he'll turn out to be evil). In the books, though, Hanna marries Mike. Yes, that Mike.

I just haven't enjoyed the five year jump at all and I blame Spencer's bangs :):)

I hear such good things about Father Brown. I'm going to have to put it on my treadmill list.

I blush to say I haven't seen Civil War yet, but I did see Love & Friendship and OMG it was a great time. I remember Kate Beckinsale did Emma back in the day and I was so excited about it after her performance in Cold Comfort Farm because I thought it was perfect casting, but the direction was dreary and the energy was bland (thank God for the Romola Garai version, which is def in my top 3 Austens ever). But I knew she had it in her to play the part of master manipulator and I was so happy to see her given a good showcase here.

And Tom Bennett killed me! He was so ridiculous, but also able to make it sort of endearing, instead of a Mr. Collins situation. I hope he gets some kind of nomination.

I loved Cold Comfort Farm--"Robert Post's child"--and I also loved Beckinsale's version of Emma with the Paltrow version coming in a close second. I don't think I ever saw the Romola Garai version--was it ever shown on PBS?

Yes, Tom Bennett needs a nomination for every award known to man :):) He was wonderful as the clueless and ridiculous fop :)

I highly recommend Father Brown and Endeavour (Inspector Morse as a young detective) both series are excellent.

OMG, you must see the 2009 Emma with Romola Garai. I think it's easily found on youtube. It's the best Emma since Clueless!!!!
