So it’s January 4th of 2017 and I decided that I need to vent. So brace yourselves for a completely random bit of complaining and belly-aching.
1. I hated the movie La La Land. HATED IT!! I am not understanding all of the hype surrounding it nor do I understand the praise Emma Stone is receiving—“career defining performance”, “she’s a triple threat” blah, blah, blah. I disliked everything about the film--the characters were unlikable, their “romance” centered on them talking about their “art” and how meaningful it was and instead what we were actually shown were two self-involved people not supporting each other emotionally while acting selfishly. I was also truly stunned at how mediocre the alleged musical talent of the two leads were and man, listening to Emma Stone sing is painful. When I watch a musical, I want to hear beautiful singing and watch innovative dance choreography and instead all we got was average singing and dancing and uninspired acting and yet we’re repeatedly told that the two main characters are super-talented and deserve all of the success in the world. Not in the movie I saw.
2. How can people watch Rogue One and complain about the characters dying? Do they not remember the line from the original Stars Wars trilogy: “Many people died to bring us this information?” Of course stealing the Death Star plans from a heavily armed imperial base was going to be a suicide mission. DUH!!
3. I find it hard to care which celebrities are refusing to go to Trump’s inauguration. Maybe it’s time for them to realize they are irrelevant to the new administration who seems to be all about big business and politics—no movie stars need apply.
4. Why are people already undecorating their homes? It’s still Christmas up and until the Feast of the Epiphany which is Jan 6th. The Three Wiseman still have to visit the Baby Jesus people, they’ll want to see some Christmas lights up :)
5. The temperature is mild right now, around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, but the cold’s coming this weekend—it will be about 28 degrees Fahrenheit and just the thought of it is annoying me. DAMN!!

Date: 2017-01-05 03:21 am (UTC)Rogue One was better than the Episodes One, Two, Three but I found it hard to follow and overly saturated in special effects to really enjoy it. Part of what made Star Wars fun as some snappy dialog, but, I dunno. This was a good story but I would have made it more human. I know most people are really liking it, but I've grown way to picky on movies.
I heard that some of Episode 9 will be shot in Nebraska, which probably is a red-herring, but I'm keeping my ears open for a general casting call. Wouldn't that be a hoot to do!
I haven't seen LA Land and now I never will. Like I said, I'm too picky.
Yes, it's still Christmas time in my book too.

3. So sick of hearing about politics right now, both your Trump and our Brexit. So. Sick. Of. It.

5. Temps here are dipping below 0C at nights and in the single figures during the day, plus the wind is making it even colder. I sympathise with your plight. Brrrr!
