This is a 310 word Elementary drabble for the Numbers Challenge at
1_million_words ENJOY!!
The envelope was the first thing Jamie saw when she returned to her cell.
There was nothing about the standard letter sized manila envelope that would cause any alarm but she also knew that the innocuous looking mailer could potentially contain information on a threat that she may or may not need to neutralize.
In the three years she’d been incarcerated, Jamie Moriarty had been transferred a total of twenty nine times and each of the twenty nine prisons had been an off the grid black site in the New York area.
And yet, Jamie was still able to keep a careful watch over Sherlock and Watson and who they let into their lives.
And after the whole Oscar’s kidnapping/relapse and then Elena March /Andrew’s murder debacle, she was glad she was able to keep an eye on her favorite crime-fighting team.
Mrs. Hudson, Fiona, and Kitty Winters were evaluated and immediately discarded as non-threats. They were, for the most part, law abiding citizens who were sincere in their regard for the detectives.
Mycroft and Morland Holmes were more problematic but they were also eventually dismissed. They may have had a complicated history with Sherlock, but they also cared about him and his well-being and that extended to his partner too.
But now there was this Shinwell Johnson fellow who was proving to be problematic. He not only had ties to a vicious gang, he was also involved in the drug trade and in other crimes as well.
And of course this was the type of person Watson decided needed saving.
There was a part of Jamie that just wanted to get rid of the thug, but that would draw Sherlock’s notice and right now, Jamie wanted to keep a low profile.
Decision made, Jamie nodded to herself: Shinwell would be watched, and if warranted, taken off the chess board.
