So I saw the movie Wonder Woman and it was so insanely awesome that it inspired me to write a 195 Diana/Steve drabble for the Numbers Challenge at
1_million_words ENJOY!!
Diana picked up Steve’s wristwatch and held it reverently in her hand.
The watch was extraordinary in its ordinariness--from the brown band to the numbered watch face-- but it had meant a great deal to Steve, so now it meant a great deal to her.
And if she closed her eyes and concentrated hard enough, she could still feel the brush of his finger’s against her palm when he placed the watch in her hand.
“I wish we had more time. I love you.”
Diana held that memory close to her heart but that didn’t stop her from also remembering how she often confused the Army captain, however unintentionally.
For example, the first time Charlie had asked for the time.
The poor man had woken from one of his nightmares and urgently asked for the time. Steve had been studying the maps and barely glanced up as he answered. “It’s 6:45.”
Charlie just looked around blankly before he spoke again. “It’s that AM or PM?”
“What’s AM or PM?” Diana asked before Steve could respond.
Steve nodded reassuringly to both Diana and Charlie before he muttered to himself. “This really is a terrible idea.”
