Finally watched the episode and I enjoyed the crap out of it.
I liked seeing Sherlock so thrown by the idea that he was destined to self-annihilate, that he’d be mired in addiction again and end up friendless and alone. His worry makes him human and I like that by the end, he seemed to realize that he made his own future—I also think that Watson’s friendship and her belief in his ability to change helped him to see all of the possibilities in front of him.
Now, I agree that the profiler, Katherine Drummond needed to pay for how she helped to destroy innocent people but a scissor in the neck isn’t quite what I had in mind. She should have had to make a public apology, admit that she was wrong in her profile and have to pay the sister and the serial killer a large sum of money.
I also liked that Joan isn’t instantly moving into Sherlock’s apartment and good for her for figuring out that her building’s super was in on the porn movies—Sherlock would be proud of her deductions.
